This 1966 Pontiac GTO was sold new by Harris-Tunison Motors in Albany, Oregon, and is said to have spent time in Tennessee before it was acquired by the seller in Minnesota in 2007. A subsequent four-year refurbishment was completed in 2011 that included a repaint in two-tone blue and silver and installing a 428ci V8. The car is equipped with a black vinyl interior in addition to a four-speed Muncie manual transmission, Hurst shifter, hood scoop, 15″ American Racing wheels, front and rear disc brakes, Rally gauges, and an aftermarket Pioneer stereo. Service since June 2021 reportedly included an oil change and adding a Hydroboost braking system.
The car was repainted in two-tone blue and silver during the refurbishment and features chrome rocker and wheel arch trim in addition to a hood scoop, stacked headlamps, louvered taillights, chrome bumpers, GTO badging, and polished dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome 15″ American Racing wheels are wrapped in 26×8″ Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires showing a mix of 2006 and 2007 date codes. Stopping power is provided by front and rear disc brakes with slotted rotors at all four corners, and a Hydroboost system was reportedly installed in August 2021.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with pleated inserts along with matching door panels and carpets. Equipment includes woodgrain dashboard trim, a Hurst shifter, front vent windows, and GTO-branded floor mats. The aftermarket Pioneer stereo is mounted in the glove box and is connected to Infinity speakers located in the door panels.
The woodgrain steering wheel frames a Rally Gauge cluster that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and combination gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 1,100 miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 428ci V8 was built by Knowlton’s Thunderheads and Racing Engines of East Bethel, Minnesota in 2007. It features ported Edelbrock cylinder heads, an Edelbrock intake manifold, an Edelbrock air filter cover, and tubular headers. An oil change was performed in June 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed Muncie manual transmission.
