This 1966 Sunbeam Alpine is finished in red over black leather and powered by a 1,725L inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. It was acquired by the seller in 2017 and subsequently underwent a refurbishment, which consisted of a repaint, a replacement Stayfast canvas top, and a reupholstered interior, as well as rebuilds of the engine, transmission, and Zenith-Stromberg carburetors.
The chrome bumpers, door handles, hinges, mirrors, grille trim, wind wings, and rubber seals were replaced at that time, and exterior features include a replacement Stayfast black canvas top and a black boot cover.
14” Panasport wheels are mounted with 195/60 Yokohama A520 tires. The brake master cylinder was replaced during the refurbishment.
The seats were rebuilt and reupholstered in black leather with red piping, and matching replacement wool carpets, door panels, and a leather dash pad with red stitching were also installed. The interior work was performed by Reyes Upholstery in Anaheim, California, and amenities include front bucket seats with lap belts, Jensen speakers mounted in the rear bulkhead, and a wood-finished shift knob.
A banjo-style steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 50k miles, only a handful of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.
The 1,725L inline-four is equipped with refurbished dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rebuilt by Jerry’s Discount Auto Parts in Huntington Beach, California with the following replacement components:
Additional work performed under current ownership includes replacement of the clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, motor mounts, transmission mounts, oil cooler lines, installing a three-row high-performance radiator, an 80-amp alternator, and rebuilding the starter and the clutch master cylinder.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
