This 1967 GAZ Volga 21 was acquired by the seller in Russia in 2014 and subsequently refurbished before being imported into the United States in 2017. This 1967 GAZ Volga 21 was acquired by the seller in Russia in 2014 and subsequently refurbished before being imported into the United States in 2017. The car is finished in tan and brown over cream vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 2.5-liter inline-four paired with a three-speed manual transmission. The GAZ-21 was manufactured in the Soviet Union, and the third series was updated to include a new “baleen” front grille, a vinyl headliner, and an optional radio. This example is a Lux edition, which includes additional bright trim and fog lamps, and was repainted in its current tan and brown in Russia prior to being imported into the US.
Tan-painted 15″ wheels wear polished hub caps and are mounted with 195/80 Continental 4×4 Contact tires with add-on whitewall rings. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes, and the car features independent front suspension.
The cabin features cream vinyl upholstery with brown piping along with salt-and-pepper carpeting throughout. Equipment includes a column-mounted shifter, cruise control, a period radio, an analog clock, and a front bench seat that can be adjusted to lie flat.
A three-spoke steering wheel wears a bright horn ring and fronts instrumentation that includes a 140-km/h speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 33k kilometers (~21k miles).
The 2.5-liter inline-four features a downdraft carburetor and retains its manual crank handle. Work performed under current ownership included resurfacing the cylinder head, replacing the water pump, and fitting a Bosch alternator, a starter relay, and a larger radiator. An oil change was performed in preparation for sale. The seller notes that there are engine oil leaks present, and that the car retains its factory ground disconnect.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission.
