This 1968 Ford F-250 Camper Special is a standard-cab long-bed pickup that was sold new by Rusty Eck Ford Company of Valley Center, Kansas. The truck is finished in red on red and is powered by a 390ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes power steering, western-style side mirrors, a dual exhaust system, chrome bumpers, air conditioning, power front disc brakes, and an aftermarket Kraco AM/FM cassette stereo. Service in March 2021 reportedly included rebuilding the carburetor, servicing the air conditioning, and replacing shocks, valve cover gaskets, radiator, and more as detailed below.
The truck is finished in red and features the Ranger trim package, which added bright window and tailgate trim as well as side and rocker moldings. A previous owner added a sliding rear window, and the seller notes that the windows are not watertight and that corrosion is present on the bottom of the front fenders, the door jambs, hood, and the floor of the bed.
16″ steel wheels wear styled hubcaps and 235/85 General Grabber LT tires. Service carried out in March 2021 reportedly included performing an alignment, resealing the power steering pump, and replacing the brakes, wheel bearings, shocks, steering coupler, and radius arm bushings.
The bench seat was reupholstered in red vinyl with cloth inserts and the headliner and carpets have been replaced. The speaker is broken, and cracks in the dashboard are covered by a plastic cap.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles.
The 390ci V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Service in March 2021 reportedly included rebuilding the carburetor, repairing the horn, installing an electronic ignition, and replacing the following components:
