This 1968 Ford F-250 is a ¾-ton long-bed pickup that was delivered new to Gilbert Tilbury Ford Lincoln Mercury of McMinnville, Oregon. Finished in red with a white roof over black vinyl upholstery, the truck is equipped with dual fuel tanks, towing mirrors, a rear step bumper, a cargo light, heavy-duty springs, and gas shocks. Power is supplied by a replacement 360ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and work in preparation for the sale included replacement of the shocks, the brake shoes, the brake master cylinder, the valve-cover gaskets, and the oil-pressure switch, along with servicing the transmission and changing the engine and gear oils.
The body was refinished in its factory color combination of Rangoon Red with a Wimbledon White roof under previous ownership. Both bumpers are painted white, and the Styleside box encloses an eight-foot bed protected by a spray-on liner. Equipment includes West Coast towing mirrors by Re-Trac, body-side moldings, a rear step bumper with a ball hitch, and a cargo light. A pair of tie-down hooks are affixed to the exterior of the bed on each side.
Slotted 16″ steel wheels are painted white and fitted with hubcaps and tires that are a mixed set including Kelly-Springfield, Monarch, and Power King brands. The truck came equipped with heavy-duty springs front and rear, and Monroe Gas-Magnum shocks have been fitted all around.
The interior features a bench seat trimmed in black vinyl with patterned cloth inserts, a matching dash pad and rubber floor mats, and body-color painted steel surfaces. The fuel tank located behind the seat was replaced by the previous owner.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal 100-mph speedometer flanked by fuel-level and engine-temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles.
The replacement 360ci V8—which is said to be of late-1960s vintage—was installed by the previous owner along with a rebuilt Motorcraft two-barrel carburetor and a replacement radiator and distributor. The seller replaced the valve-cover gaskets and the oil-pressure switch and changed the oil in preparation for the sale.
The muffler was replaced by the previous owner. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a floor-shifted four-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 rear end with a 4.10:1 final gear ratio. The clutch was also replaced by the previous owner, and the transmission was serviced and the gear oil was changed by the seller.
The Deluxe Marti report shows delivery to the Gilbert Tilbury Co. of McMinnville, Oregon, along with factory colors and equipment, body-plate decoding, and production dates and numbers. An aLompanying sales invoice shows that the truck was purchased for $3,019 on August 23, 1968. An owner’s manual, a three-volume shop manual, and additional manufacturer’s literature are included in the sale.
