This 1968 Ford Mustang convertible was acquired by the seller in 2015 and subsequently fitted with a replacement fuel-injected 351ci Windsor V8 and a Tremec TKO-600 five-speed manual transmission by Venom Builds in Lewiston, Minnesota. The car has been refinished in metallic gray with a black soft top, stripes, and TMI interior upholstery. Additional modifications include four-link rear suspension, Global West coilovers, an aftermarket front valance with central driving lights, a stainless steel exhaust system with faired side outlets, aftermarket 17” wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a rear lip spoiler, a raised hood, and a retro-style stereo.
The car has been repainted in metallic gray with black center and side stripes, and wears a replacement black convertible top that is shown both lowered and raised. A black top boot is included in the sale. The front bumper has been replaced with an aftermarket valance featuring a cutout for centered driving lamps. Additional exterior details include a cowl hood, side scoops, updated headlights, a rear lip spoiler, side skirts wrapping around the exhaust outlets, and Shelby G.T. 500 badging.
Aftermarket 17” alloy wheels wear faux knock-off spinners and Yokohama YK580 tires that measure 225/45 up front and 235/45 out back. The car features four-wheel disc brakes, a Unisteer rack and pinion steering setup, and a four-link rear end with Global West coilovers.
The interior is trimmed in black vinyl and synthetic suede upholstery from TMI along with matching carpets and Shelby Cobra floor mats. Amenities consist of an aftermarket retro-style stereo, a center console with cupholders and a storage cubby, lap belts, and USB and 12-volt outlets as well as an air conditioning system that is said to needs periodic recharging due to a leak. The seller describes areas of amateur-quality wiring, and two speakers are inoperable.
Controls include a Hurst shifter with a cueball knob as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel mounted on an aftermarket tilt column. A 120-mph speedometer and a combination gauge are joined by fuel and temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 11k miles.
The 351ci Windsor V8 was installed by Venom Builds in Lewiston, Minnesota five years ago and features a FAST fuel injection system, custom valve covers, MSD ignition components, a serpentine belt system, and Hedman headers feeding a 2.5″ stainless steel exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers. Aftermarket braces connect the shock towers to the firewall. Service performed in 2021 is said to include repair of a top-end gasket as well as an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9″ locking differential.
