This 1969 Jeepster Commando is powered by a replacement 350ci GM V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case and was acquired by its current owner out of California in 2015. The truck is finished in white over a black interior and has been modified with aluminum cylinder heads, a four-barrel carburetor, an electronic ignition, an aluminum radiator with electric fans, power brakes, 3″ of lift, and larger wheels and tires. Service in preparation for the sale included replacement of the intake manifold gasket, the wheel cylinders, and the brake shoes.
The truck was refinished in white in 2014 and features a seven-slot grille and chrome bumpers. The full-length black metal hardtop is a bolt-on affair with sliding windows and a lifting rear hatch over a drop-down tailgate
Matte black 16″ ATX-Series Ledge wheels from American Racing are Teflon-coated and fitted with manual-locking front hubs and 33″ BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 tires showing 2009 date codes. The wheels and tires were installed under previous ownership, as were power brakes and 3″ of suspension lift. The brake shoes and wheel cylinders were replaced in July 2021.
The interior features front bucket and rear bench seats upholstered in black cloth and vinyl as well as a matching dash pad, door inserts, and carpets.
A two-spoke steering wheel fronts a body-colored metal dashboard with light, wiper, and ventilation controls, a silver instrument panel, an AM radio, and a locking glovebox. Instrumentation consists of a 110-mph speedometer with fuel-level and engine-temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles.
The 350ci GM-sourced V8 was fitted under previous ownership and is equipped with aluminum cylinder heads, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an MSD electronic ignition, and an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. Gases exit by way of headers flowing into dual exhausts with side outlets ahead of the rear wheels. Service in July 2021 included replacement of the intake manifold gasket.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a console-shifted TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a two-lever dual-range transfer case.
