This 1970 Chevrolet El Camino was sold new at Eddie Hopper Chevrolet in Garden Grove, California, and was acquired by the seller two years ago in Indiana. A subsequent refurbishment included a repaint in metallic blue and reupholstery of the interior in black vinyl as well as rebuilding the carburetor and installing a replacement radiator, alternator, dual exhaust system, RetroSound stereo, brightwork, auxiliary gauges, and Positraction rear end. Power is provided by a 396ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission.
The car was repainted in metallic blue with white stripes following rust repairs, which included welding replacement sheet metal into the bed according to the seller. Several exterior moldings and seals were also replaced. Features include chrome bumpers, a cowl-induction hood, and reverse lights integrated into the drop-down tailgate.
Polished 14″ SS-style wheels were mounted with 225/70 Mastercraft Avenger G/T tires in December 2019. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs up front and drums out back.
Interior work consisted of reupholstery of the bench seat in black vinyl as well as installation of replacement door and kick panels, armrests, window felts, and switchgear. Aftermarket audio components include a RetroSound digital stereo feeding speaker boxes mounted behind the bench seat.
An SS-badged Grant steering wheel frames a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, a 120-mph speedometer, and a fuel gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 3k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. Additional gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature have been added to the A-pillar.
