This 1971 Chevrolet K5 Blazer 4×4 was sold new by Star Chevrolet Co. in East Orange, New Jersey and is powered by a 307ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck reportedly received a single-stage repaint in the factory red during previous ownership. The seller states that the floor pans and right quarter panel were repaired and the inner fenders, radiator support, and left rocker panel were replaced prior to the repaint. Features include a removable fiberglass hardtop, dual exhaust outlets, and replacement chrome bumpers, side mirrors, and trim.
Polished 15″ US Mags Indy wheels wear 32×11.5″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires that were installed during current ownership. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the truck is also equipped with a Red Head steering box, Warn manually locking front hubs, Skyjacker 2.5″ front leaf springs, and Rough Country shock absorbers at all four corners. Recent service included overhauling the brakes and performing an alignment.
The interior features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black with along with matching door panels and floor coverings. Amenities include a roll bar, rear-mounted spare tire, heater, center console with storage, and a RetroSound head unit playing through two Realistic speakers.
The three-spoke steering wheel features a Chevrolet-branded horn button and frames a 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 307ci V8 features a Holley carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold and air cleaner, Mickey Thompson finned aluminum valve covers, a dual exhaust system with Cherry Bomb Turbo mufflers, and an aluminum radiator. During current ownership, the oil was changed, the coolant was flushed, and the carburetor, fuel pump, alternator, starter, radiator hoses, belts, and tune-up components were replaced.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Service since March 2021 included rebuilding the front and rear differentials, flushing the differential fluid, resealing the transfer case, and replacing driveshaft universal joints.
A September 1970 dealer invoice from Star Chevrolet Co. of East Orange, New Jersey details factory colors and equipment and notes a total price of $4,148.75. A Protect-O-Plate will also accompany the truck.
