This 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was reportedly refurbished in 2010 and acquired by the seller about three years ago. The 3.9-liter straight-six was rebuilt in 2020 and drives the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The truck is finished in red over black vinyl and is equipped with a removable hardtop with a white roof, manually-lockable front hubs, HEI ignition, HID headlamps, Rancho shocks, inward-facing rear seats, heaters, and 15″ steel wheels.
According to the seller, the body was refinished in its current shade of red in 2010 following the installation of a replacement driver-side fender. Replacement floor pans were installed at that time and rust repair has been performed on the left rear quarter panel. The front fenders were repainted during current ownership, reportedly due to fading and bubbling, and replacement bumpers and badging were also installed. Exterior features include a matching hardtop with a contrasting white roof, a white headlamp bezel, HID headlights, and side mirrors. The removed headlamps will accompany the truck, along with a soft top and doors.
White-painted 15″ steel wheels are mounted with 33×10.5″ BFGoodrich Baja Champion All Terrain T/A K02 tires, and a matching spare is secured to the rear bodywork. The front axle is equipped with manually-lockable hubs, and Rancho shocks have been installed at all four corners.
The front bucket seats are trimmed in black vinyl, and matching upholstery extends to the fold-down rear troop seating. The floors were reportedly covered in bedliner coating and repainted during current ownership. A replacement dash pad has been installed, and the cabin is equipped with black carpeting and front and rear heaters.
A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 8k miles.
The 3.9-liter inline-six is equipped with a high energy ignition system and was rebuilt and bored .030″ over by Sperry Engines of Cedar Rapids, Iowa in February 2020. Work included a resurfaced cylinder head, a reground crankshaft, and replacement pistons, rings, bearings, and more as outlined on an invoice. The fuel tank was replaced in 2010 per the seller. A spare high energy ignition system will accompany the truck, and an oil change and coolant flush were performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is directed to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. A replacement flywheel was installed at the time of the engine rebuild, replacement clutch cylinders were fitted in 2021, and the seller reports a recent transmission fluid flush.
