This 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was acquired by the seller in December 2015 following a refurbishment performed in Colorado that included rebuilding the 4.2-liter inline-six as well as metalwork and a repaint in red. This 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was acquired by the seller in December 2015 following a refurbishment performed in Colorado that included rebuilding the 4.2-liter inline-six as well as metalwork and a repaint in red. Additional refurbishment work included powder-coating the frame and axles along with replacing braking, exhaust, and suspension components. The body was removed from the frame prior to metalwork that included fabricating the rear half of the tub and replacing the rocker panels. The body panels were media-blasted prior to a repaint in red with white roof and clearcoat. Features include ambulance-style rear doors, a jerry can holder, a pintle hitch mount, and a front winch.
Aluminum 15″ American Racing wheels feature Warn locking hubs up front and wear Hercules Terra Trac ATII tires at each corner, while a matching spare is affixed to a rear-mounted carrier. The braking system was serviced during the refurbishment, and replacement shocks and leaf springs were installed.
The interior was reupholstered in black vinyl and features textured black floors and body-color steel surfaces.
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 55k miles.
The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six was rebuilt along with the carburetor in 2014. Additionally, engine components were painted in gray, and the hardware was stripped and electroplated. Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case.
