This 1979 Ford F-250 is a standard-cab 4×4 that was refurbished and modified from the seller’s acquisition in 2010 over the following six years. The work included sourcing a 1978 bed and a 1977 cab, a repaint in Ford Guard Metallic, and installation of a 460ci V8 as well as a four-speed NP435 manual transmission and an NP205 dual-range transfer case. Additional equipment includes an aftermarket hood and tailgate, a 6″ lift with Rancho shocks, 16.5″ wheels with 38″ tires, four-wheel disc brakes, fabricated bumpers with recovery points, a Legion Industrial toolbox, a receiver hitch, a truck cover, and a custom split bench seat.
A 1978 bed and a 1977 cab were fitted to the 1979 frame according to the seller, and an aftermarket hood and tailgate were added before a repaint in Ford Guard Metallic. Features include custom-fabricated front and rear bumpers with D-ring shackles as well as a receiver hitch, clearance lights, and exits for the dual exhaust system in both bed sides. The bed is coated in a textured spray-in liner and houses a Legion Industrial toolbox.
The truck has been lifted approximately 6″ to clear 38×15.50″ Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip tires mounted on polished aluminum 16.5″ wheels, which are fitted over manually–locking Warn hubs up front. The truck features Rancho shocks, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, and power steering with a Saginaw pump.
The cab houses a custom three-piece split bench seat upholstered in two-tone cloth, with the middle backrest also acting as a folding center armrest. Textured spray-in liner covers the floor. The stock climate controls and radio have been removed, and the Cold Air Products heater is said to work on defrost only. An American Autowire harness was installed according to the seller, and a modern fusebox resides under the dash.
An aftermarket steering wheel frames a column-mounted aftermarket tachometer, an 85-mph speedometer, and secondary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 69k chassis miles.
The 460ci V8 is said to have been rebuilt with a .040″ overbore, an Erson camshaft, Comp Cams Roller Rockers and Roller lifters, and ARP hardware. The engine breathes through a K&N air filter, a Holley Quickfuel 850-cfm carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer intake, and a set of tube headers feeding a dual exhaust system. Additional modifications include aluminum valve covers, an HEI distributor, Eagle Forged H-Beam connecting rods, KB hypereutectic pistons, a custom large-sump oil pan, billet pulleys and brackets, a chrome alternator, and a four-core aluminum radiator with an electric cooling fan.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual New Process 435 transmission, a dual-range New Process 205 transfer case hanging from a custom crossmember, aftermarket driveshafts, and Dana 60 axles at both ends.
The body, frame, axles, and springs are said to have been media-blasted before refinishing.
