This 1980 International Scout II is finished in metallic green with gray and orange graphics over a green plaid interior, and it was modified pre-delivery with the Midas package, reflecting custom modifications made under contract by Midas Van Conversions of Elkhart, Indiana. Equipment includes air conditioning, swiveling captain’s chairs, an AM/FM/eight-track stereo, a removable hardtop, and a roll cage. This Scout was factory-equipped with an optional Nissan turbodiesel 3.2-liter inline-six. Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The vehicle has been owned by a family trust since 2017. Services performed under current ownership included removing and cleaning the fuel tank as well as replacing the battery, air-conditioning and power-steering belts, headlights, tires, and front disc brakes.
The truck is finished in metallic green with gray and orange graphics and a repainted white hardtop. For its final production year, the Scout II featured a grille made of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic that housed square headlamps. The chrome front bumper houses factory tow hooks, and orange fog lights are mounted beneath it. There is a dent at the rear corner of the removable top on the driver side, with some paint damage located there and on the body below.
White 15” wheels are mounted with Goodyear Wrangler 235/75 radial tires showing 2017 date codes and said to have been installed in 2018. A full-size spare in a vinyl cover is stored behind the rear seats. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, while manually locking hubs are positioned at the front wheels. The front brakes reportedly were recently replaced, and the brake lines were cleaned.
The year 1980 marked the final edition of the partnership whereby Midas Van Conversions modified new Scout IIs for sale at dealerships. The front swiveling captain’s chairs and twin rear bucket seats in this example are upholstered in green plaid cloth that continues onto the door and side panels as well as the headliner, while the vinyl trim and shag carpeting are also green. Equipment includes air conditioning, an AM/FM/eight-track stereo, plus hand-cranked door glass, push-out vent windows in the doors, and sliding windows in the hardtop. A roll cage was installed under current ownership together with three-point seatbelts in front and five-point harnesses in back.
The three-spoke steering wheel has a Scout center cap and frames instrumentation that includes an 85-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows 97k miles.
The Scout is powered by a 3.2-liter SD33T Nissan turbodiesel inline-six,. The Scout-spec Nissan turbodiesel was rated at 101 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller states that recent service has included:
