This 1981 Alpina B7 Turbo was reportedly delivered new in Berlin, Germany, before being imported to California from Belgium in the 1990s, and it shows Alpina serial number 209 on its dash plaque. This 1981 Alpina B7 Turbo was reportedly delivered new in Berlin, Germany, before being imported to California from Belgium in the 1990s, and it shows Alpina serial number 209 on its dash plaque. The car was acquired by the seller in August of 2018, and subsequent service and refurbishment work has included repairing the radiator, performing a brake system overhaul, and installing rebuilt Bilstein dampers with H&R springs. It is finished in Sapphire Blue Metallic over a black Alpina fabric interior, and power comes from a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes Alpina graphics, 16″ alloy wheels, front and rear spoilers, Recaro front bucket seats, and a replacement Blaupunkt stereo installed by the seller along with Focal speakers and a JL Audio amplifier. Additional service under current ownership has included replacement exhaust components, a replacement fuel pump, and rust repairs on the hood and the trunk seal lip.
The body is finished in Sapphire Blue Metallic (149) with blue Alpina graphics that were applied under previous ownership. Equipment includes front and rear spoilers, quad headlights, a single center-mounted exhaust exit, and chrome trim. The seller notes evidence of paintwork on the left-rear quarter panel, and rust and body filler were reportedly repaired in the trunk under current ownership.
Silver 16″ Alpina alloy wheels are mounted with Bridgestone Potenza tires that measure 205/50 up front and 225/50 out back and show 2018 date codes. The car is equipped with Alpina-specific Bilstein shocks that are said to have been rebuilt under current ownership and installed along with H&R springs. Replacement BMW front brake rotors were fitted with rebuilt calipers and wheel bearings as well as replacement brake pads all around. The removed Alpina springs and front brake rotors are included in the sale.
The cabin features Recaro front seats and a rear bench that were reupholstered using Alpina fabric during current ownership. Equipment includes a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, a JL Audio JD400 4-channel amplifier, Focal two-way speakers, a digital clock, a locking glovebox, wood trim, and Alpina B7-embroidered carpeted floor mats. The heater fan switch was repaired, the air conditioning does not work, and an M30-specific air conditioning compressor bracket designed to accommodate a replacement compressor is included in the sale.
A serialized Alpina plaque identifying this car as #209 is displayed on the dashboard above the glovebox.
A leather-wrapped Alpina steering wheel fronts Alpina-branded VDO instrumentation consisting of a 300-kph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and oil temperature. An Alpina-specific gauge pod mounted atop the dashboard houses auxiliary gauges, and the housing has been refinished. The six-digit odometer shows 147k kilometers (~91k miles).
The 3.0-liter M30 inline-six features Alpina enhancements consisting of a KK&K K27 turbocharger, an oil circulation system, revised ignition and fuel-injection systems, and a modified intake manifold. Factory-rated output was quoted at 300 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. Service since the seller’s acquisition is said to have included installing a recored radiator, rebuilding the control pressure regulator, and replacing the thermostat and thermostat housing. The fuel filter and fuel pump were replaced and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission with a dogleg shift pattern. A replacement exhaust system was fitted under current ownership.
