This 1987 Dodge Power Ram W250 is a long-bed pickup that spent its life as a brush fire response truck with the Herrin Fire Department in Illinois until it was retired in 2017. The truck is finished in red over matching vinyl, and power is provided by a 360ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Features include fire department graphics, a diamond-plate toolbox, a winch, exterior spotlights, and a receiver hitch. Recent maintenance includes the replacement of seals and gaskets, the driveshaft u-joint, and the front brake rotors.
The truck is finished in red with “Herrin Fire Department” decals and features an eight-foot bed and chromed diamond-plate step bumpers. Polished 15″ wheels are fitted with 285/75 Thunderer Trac Grip M/T tires with date codes from 2020. Recent maintenance includes a brake fluid flush, and the replacement of the front rotors, the front-right caliper and pad, two brake hoses, and the front wheel axle seals.
The cab features a bench seat upholstered in red vinyl and joined by a matching dashboard and door panels. Amenities include black rubber floor coverings, tilt-out corner windows, an electronic brake controller, and manual windows and door locks.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts an 85-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 28k miles. The Carfax report notes a potential odometer rollover in May 2021, when an odometer reading of 28k kilometers (~17k miles) was recorded.
The 360ci V8 was factory rated at 175 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Recent service includes the replacement of the crankshaft seal, oil pan gasket, and upper and lower valve cover gaskets, as well as an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The drive-shaft U-joint was replaced in September 2021.
