This 1987 Toyota Land Cruiser was refurbishment under previous ownership, this including installing a fuel-injected 5.3-liter Vortec V8 and a replacement 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission. Other work at that time included a repaint in silver, overhauling the suspension and brakes, and reupholstering the cabin in gray vinyl with black carpets. Equipment includes an Old Man Emu 3″ suspension lift, 16″ Cragar wheels, steel front and rear bumpers, an aftermarket audio system, air conditioning, and a locking center console.
The body was reportedly removed from the frame and repainted in its current shade of silver in 2019. Rust repair was performed to the driver’s floor and door as well as above the driver-side taillight. Steel bumpers, a trailer hitch, and a six-blade trailer wiring connector have been added, and the front bumper was rewelded under current ownership.
The 16″ Cragar V5 wheels are mounted over manually locking hubs up front and wear 255/85 Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx tires. The suspension features an Old Man Emu 3″ lift kit with NitroCharger shocks, and components replaced under previous ownership are said to include bushings, ball joints, tie-rod ends, Birfield joints, and the steering box. Brake-system work during the refurbishment reportedly included replacing the front calipers, rotors, pads, and stainless steel lines, along with a rebuild and repaint of the rear drums.
The seats were reupholstered in gray vinyl, and the black carpets were installed during the refurbishment. Billet aluminum trim has been added to the dash, and additional equipment includes an aftermarket locking center console and a Pioneer head unit paired with Rockford-Fosgate 6.5″ speakers. An AC power receptical was added but does not work.
A later-style steering wheel frames a tachometer, a combination gauge, and an 85-mph speedometer with a six-digit mechanical odometer that currently shows approximately 900 miles. The odometer was reset to zero during the refurbishment, and total mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter Vortec V8 is said to have been sourced from a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. Work under previous ownership reportedly included replacing belts and the water pump as well as the fuel tank, fuel pump, lines, filler neck, and sending unit. An oil change was performed in September 2021.
The 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission is fitted with a Lokar shifter and is linked with a two-speed transfer case. An Advance Adapters split-case adapter, transmission cooler, and custom driveshafts have also been installed.
