This 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 spent much of its life in Texas, where it was acquired by the seller in 2016 and subsequently relocated to Illinois. The truck is finished in beige over matching cloth, and power comes from a fuel-injected 4.0L inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Additional equipment includes an ARB front bumper, 15″ chrome wheels, power accessories, air conditioning, and a Toyota AM/FM cassette stereo. Work under current ownership is said to have included rebuilding the transmission as well as replacement of the front shackles, leaf springs and shocks, front brake calipers and rotors, brake booster, fan clutch, alternator, and front wheel bearings.
The body is finished in metallic beige, and brightwork includes chrome mirror caps, door handles, and window trim. Aftermarket window tint, a replacement power antenna mast, and an ARB front bumper with Hella auxiliary lights have been added, though the lights are reportedly not connected.
Factory 15″ chrome wheels wear BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires. Manually-locking front hubs are fitted, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Servicing under current ownership included replacement of the brake booster, rear brake proportioning valve, front brake calipers and rotors, and front wheel bearings.
The cabin features striped beige cloth upholstery and contrasting brown trim and carpeting. Amenities include power windows, mirrors, and locks as well as air conditioning and a factory AM/FM cassette stereo. The seller notes a split in the seam of the lower left side of the driver’s seat, damage to the dashboard, a blemish on the front-right door panel, and wear to the carpet in the front passenger footwell.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames a 110-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 154k miles.
The fuel-injected 3F-E 4.0L straight-six was factory rated at 155 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque. The upper oil pan gasket and rear main seal were replaced in March 2017. Servicing since May 2019 included replacement of the fan clutch, alternator, and accessory belts along with a recharge of the air conditioning in June 2021. The seller notes the presence of a noise described as lifter tick.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The transmission was reportedly rebuilt in March 2017, and the front shackles, leaf springs and shocks were replaced.
Service records from current ownership are included in the sale along with an owner’s manual.
