This 1991 BMW 318is was subsequently modified with installation of a turbocharged 1.8L M42 inline-four linked with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in Alpine White over a gray cloth interior with an M-Tech I steering wheel and front sport seats. Additional modifications include a Zionsville AutoSport Z3 steering rack, a UCC Motorwerks front big brake kit, a K-Data ECU with MegaSquirt firmware, a custom intercooler, CP-Carrillo forged pistons, Bilstein shocks, H&R springs, and 15″ Team Dynamics wheels. Recent work is said to have included replacing the headlight and fog light assemblies, along with the roundel badges.
The body was reportedly repainted in Alpine White under current ownership after a ding was repaired on the driver’s side fender. Equipment includes an air intake in place of the driver’s side high-beam, a sunroof, and a rear decklid spoiler. Work performed in preparation for the sale is said to have included installation of replacement headlight and fog light assemblies and roundel badges.
Silver-finished 15″ Team Dynamics Pro Race wheels are wrapped in 225/45 Hankook Ventus tires. Additional modifications include installation of a Zionsville AutoSport Z3 steering rack along with Bilstein shocks and H&R springs. Stopping power is provided by a UCC Motorwerks front big brake kit with four-piston calipers along with factory rear disc brakes.
The interior features front sport seats and a rear bench upholstered in gray cloth and joined by matching carpets and door panel inserts along with a contrasting black dashboard. Equipment includes a UCC Motorwerks EVO3 short shifter, an M-branded shift knob, a dashboard cover, Coco mats, and power windows. The dashboard is cracked and the seller notes that the air conditioning components have been removed.
An M-Tech I steering wheel frames a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset instant fuel economy gauge, and gauges indicating coolant temperature and fuel level. Aftermarket auxiliary gauges are mounted within the center stack. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 265k miles.
The 1.8L M42 inline-four was reportedly rebuilt in 2019 with installation of CP-Carrillo forged pistons as well as the addition of a Classic Daily turbo kit featuring a Garrett turbocharger. Additional modifications include a K-Data ECU with MegaSquirt firmware, a coil-on-plug ignition system, a Mishimoto radiator with an electric puller fan, a custom intercooler, and upgraded Bosch fuel injectors.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag 240 five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 gearing. The transmission was reportedly rebuilt under current ownership and is fitted with an upgraded clutch and a lightened flywheel. The oil pan is protected by an aftermarket skid plate.
