This 1973 BMW 2002 was purchased new from Weatherford BMW in Berkeley, California by the seller’s father and underwent a refurbishment in 2015 after sitting unused for around a decade. Work included a repaint in its factory shade of Verona along with a rebuild of the 2.0-liter inline-four, replacement shocks, and refreshment of the interior and chassis. Equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a Weber carburetor, 13″ steel wheels with polished covers, a sunroof, and a factory-look radio. The valves were recently adjusted and the alternator bushings replaced in preparation for the sale.
The body was finished from the factory in Verona and was repainted around 2015 by United Collision Center of Mountain View, California following dent repairs. Equipment includes a sunroof, chrome bumpers with overriders, round taillights, and stainless steel beltline trim. The seller reports that some of the brightwork has been refinished. Six-digit blue California license plates are mounted at either end.
Steel 13″ wheels with polished covers are wrapped in 185/70 Kumho Solus KR21 tires that show 2014 date codes. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, and the shocks were replaced during the refurbishment in 2015.
The interior was refurbished by Sidco Custom Upholstery of Mountain View, California and features seats upholstered in black vinyl with textured inserts along with matching door panels and salt-and-pepper carpeting. Amenities include front vent windows, a BMW-branded shift knob, a heater, a rear window defroster, and an aftermarket stock-style head unit with a speaker mounted in the center stack.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a combination gauge for fuel level and engine temperature. The five-digit odometer is inoperable and shows 42k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.0-liter M10 inline-four was factory rated at 98 horsepower and 116 lb-ft of torque and is said to have been rebuilt by Edge Motorworks of Mountain View, California in 2015, which included installation of a Weber carburetor. The car received a valve adjustment and replacement alternator bushings in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
