This 1997 Chevrolet Camaro is one of a reported 100 30th Anniversary examples produced for the US market that were modified by SLP Engineering with a 5.7-liter LT4 V8. The car was originally delivered to Troy Aikman Chevrolet of Fort Worth, Texas, and it is finished in Arctic White with Hugger Orange stripes over Arctic White leather upholstery. Modifications performed by SLP engineering when new included installing an LT4 V8 engine, a Torsen limited-slip differential, a Hurst shifter for the six-speed manual transmission, a lightweight driveshaft and flywheel, a Bilstein Ultra Sport Level III suspension package, and a stainless steel exhaust system. Additional equipment includes air conditioning, cruise control, power accessories, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo.
Each 30th Anniversary example equipped with the LT4 engine was a coupe model finished in Arctic White (10) with Hugger Orange stripes and features SS and 330 HP badging. Additional exterior details include a composite hood with forced-air induction, a rear spoiler, integrated front fog lights, and body-color side moldings.
White-finished 17″ five-spoke wheels feature SS-branded center caps and are wrapped in 245/50 BFGoodrich Comp T/A tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and the car is equipped with a Bilstein Ultra Sport Level III suspension package installed by SLP Engineering.
The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in Arctic White leather with embroidered 30th Anniversary logos in the headrests along with a commemorative plaque mounted to the center stack. Equipment includes a black dashboard, center console, and carpets, the latter of which are protected with 30th Anniversary-embroidered floor mats. Amenities include an AM/FM cassette stereo, a rear window defogger, a Hurst short-throw shifter, air conditioning, cruise control, remote keyless entry, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and power locks, windows, and mirrors. SS-branded floor mats in their plastic packaging are included in the sale.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 155-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The digital odometer indicates 7,800 miles.
The 5.7-liter LT4 V8 was factory rated at 330 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. Additional equipment includes a performance air intake system, an oil cooler, a lightweight driveshaft, and a stainless steel exhaust system.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed Borg-Warner T56 manual transmission. A Torsen limited-slip differential, a high performance pressure plate, and a lightweight flywheel were installed as part of the LT4 package installed by SLP Engineering.
The window sticker lists initial delivery to Troy Aikman Chevrolet of Fort Worth, Texas, along with colors, equipment, and a total price of $24,070. A window sticker for the 30th Anniversary LT4 alteration package is also included and shows an MSRP of $17,023 over the vehicle price. An SLP-branded car cover is included along with an SS-branded storage bag and a wheel lock key that has not been removed from its plastic packaging.
