The exterior is finished in Championship White (NH0), the only color offered for US-market Type Rs in 1998, and features a front lip spoiler, a raised rear wing, black splash guards, and Type R decals. The 1.8-liter B18C5 inline-four features VTEC variable valve timing as well as dual overhead camshafts, and factory-rated output was 195 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque when new. Service completed during current ownership is said to include replacement of the timing belt, valve cover, water pump, and miscellaneous hardware, and the oil was most recently changed in September 2020 at 96k miles.
Power is delivered to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle, and the clutch components were replaced in 2018 at 94k miles.
