This 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500 was first delivered to Mission Imports of Laguna Niguel, California, and it was leased new by the seller’s husband, who then purchased the car at the conclusion of the lease. Power is from a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, and it is finished in black over charcoal leather. The car was optioned with the SL2 Sport Package, which added 18″ AMG five-spoke wheels and AMG-styled bodywork, and other equipment includes a power-retractable hardtop, xenon headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and power-adjustable seats, navigation, and a Bose audio system. Recent service included replacing the battery and the crankshaft position sensor as well as a convertible top hydraulic cylinder.
The car is finished in Black (040) and features a power-retractable hardtop, automatic xenon headlights, front fog lamps, dual exhaust outlets, and an AMG-designed front air dam, rear apron, and side skirts. A convertible-top cylinder was replaced in August 2021, and scrapes can be seen underneath the front valance.
The 18″ AMG five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 and A/S 3+ tires that measure 255/40 up front and 285/35 out back. The car features an Active Body Control (ABC) suspension as well as four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. A right-side strut rod arm was replaced in January 2020.
The cabin features heated and power-adjustable seats upholstered in Charcoal leather, while contrasting black leather and burl wood trim are present on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, an alarm system, a COMAND infotainment system with navigation, and a Bose audio system.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 27k miles.
The 5.0-liter M113 V8 was factory rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. The crankshaft position sensor was replaced in June 2021, and the starting battery was replaced in April 2021.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission.
