This 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a metallic gray-over-black convertible that was acquired by the seller in April 2009 and subsequently sent to V8 Roadsters (V8R) of Blountville, Tennessee, where it was used as a prototype to develop their LS conversion kit. Work included installation of a 5.7-liter LS1 and a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission, and additional modifications include a revised cooling system, engine mounts, axles, and suspension components along with a roll bar, a rear spoiler, fender flares, aftermarket gauges, MagnaFlow mufflers, 18″ Axis wheels, and a Ford-sourced limited-slip differential.
The seller states the exterior was refinished in metallic gray following installation of the engine, and the included Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage. Equipment includes a black soft top, fog lights, a rear spoiler, black fender flares, dual exhaust outlets, and dual cooling vents in the hood.
Dark chrome-finished 18×9.5″ Axis wheels are mounted with 285/30 Federal 595 EVO tires. Suspension modifications include DGR prototype coilover shocks, adjustable rear links, and a V8R tubular front subframe, a prototype front sway bar, and a Flyin’ Miata rear sway bar.
The interior features seats upholstered in black cloth, and WeatherTech floor liners protect the matching carpets. Additional equipment includes power windows and a JVC CD stereo hooked to a Planet Audio subwoofer mounted behind the driver’s seat. A roll bar has fitted behind the seats, and the seller notes delamination on the rear-view mirror.
The factory multi-function steering wheel frames aftermarket gauges including a central 8k-rpm tachometer, a 160-mph speedometer, and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature, and a dashboard-mounted gauge pod features readouts for fuel level and battery voltage. The replacement digital odometer indicates under 18k miles.
The 5.7-liter LS1 V8 was installed by V8 Roadsters and utilizes their engine mounts and cooling system. The engine is fitted with a Fuel Air Spark Technologies intake manifold ported by Mamo Motorsports, a factory LS2 throttle body, an E40 powertrain control module sourced from a 2006 GTO, and the accessory drive sourced from a CTS-V model. The seller states the oil was most recently changed approximately 200 miles ago, at which time a coolant flush was performed and the thermostat replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed Tremec T56 transmission paired with a Ford-sourced limited-slip differential, and the rear cover is secured with safety wire and the differential is mounted utilizing V8R components. The exhaust system utilizes MagnaFlow mufflers.
