Description
Vehicle Description 1920 Keystone Packard $2,800 "1920 Keystone Packard Toy Army Truck ""The Keystone Manufacturing Company of Boston, Mass started production of Keystone Pressed Steel Toys in 1924. Keystone's first trucks were patterned after the popular full size Packard Truck and had approval from the Packard Motor Company to do so. They were appropriately labeled as such with a Packard decal on the radiator. Keystone produced many great toy trucks, airplanes, trains and construction toys over the years."" Presssedsteelmetaltoys.com For consignment, a 1920 Keystone Packard Toy Army Truck, a rare toy showing appropriate patina in display worthy condition. This Army truck shows Olive Drab green paint with all the ""played with"" wear you'd expect, that includes scratches, fading, and some surface rust. Remnants of the Packard decal on the grille remain as do the coveted floor decal and the US Army decals on the bed and the USA decal on the hood. The tires and steel wheels are fully intact with readable lettering and discernable tread on the tires. The bed contains four bows that would have held up a canvas tarp and the integrated bench seat is positioned behind a four spoke steel steering wheel that actually turns the front wheels and tells the stories of many small hands over many hours of play. Underneath, the frame is also fully intact as is the steering linkage. Keystone trucks are sought after in the collector market and get more valuable with each passing year. Before plastics became the dominant material in the world, this is how the children of the early 20th century played ""cars."" And before manufacturing was sent overseas, proud American companies like Keystone endured.
