1927 Dodge Brothers Series 128 Coupe

Vehicle Description 1927 Dodge Brothers Series 128 $9,900 Zoom Classic Cars presents this survivor 1927 Dodge Brothers Series 128 Coupe. All original steel car in running and driving condition. There is something special about finding a nearly 100-year-old automobile that has survived largely as it was built and this 1927 Dodge Brothers Series 128 Coupe is exactly that kind of car. An all-original survivor with wonderful period-correct patina, this Dodge has not been over-restored or transformed into something it never was. Instead, it retains the character, appearance, and mechanical personality that make early Dodge Brothers automobiles so fascinating to collectors.Originally from Ohio, this all-steel Series 128 has now found its way to Massachusetts, where it has been carefully stored. Most importantly, it is running and driving, and according to the current owner, everything works. The car is ready to be enjoyed as an authentic piece of American automotive history rather than simply parked away as a static display.Under the hood is Dodge Brothers\' well-known 212.3-cubic-inch L-head inline four-cylinder, commonly referred to as the “Fast Four,” producing approximately 44 horsepower, backed by the original-style three-speed manual transmission. The Series 128 represents an important chapter in Dodge Brothers history. Introduced for the 1927 model year, the 128 was part of the final development of Dodge\'s long-running four-cylinder passenger cars. The Fast Four\'s relatively large-displacement four-cylinder engine, substantial chassis, and more sophisticated construction gave Dodge an advantage over many economy cars of the period. The Series 128 rode on a 108-inch wheelbase and was equipped with a three-speed manual transmission.Dodge Brothers automobiles had earned a reputation for solid engineering and durability well before 1927, and the Series 128 is particularly interesting to collectors because it represents the mature, final-generation Dodge Brothers four-cylinder automobile before the company transitioned into its six-cylinder era. The Fast Four therefore has an important place in the history of the Dodge Brothers marque. What makes this particular Dodge especially attractive is what hasn\'t been done to it.The car retains its original, wonderfully aged appearance and natural patina. Rather than presenting another freshly restored 1920s automobile, this Series 128 offers the opportunity to own an authentic survivor that wears its nearly century-long history proudly. For collectors of early Dodge Brothers automobiles, original survivors can provide an entirely different experience from restored examples. The original finishes, hardware, details, and accumulated patina tell the story of the automobile in a way that a restoration simply cannot duplicate. This is the kind of automobile that becomes increasingly difficult to find: an honest, unrestored, running and driving example of an important American automobile that still looks and feels like a 1920s Dodge Brothers should.Whether you are a dedicated Dodge Brothers collector, a pre-war automobile enthusiast, or simply appreciate genuine survivors with great history and character, this Series 128 deserves a close look.
