Description
This 1930 Lincoln Model L is a five-passenger sedan that underwent a refurbishment before it was purchased by musician and musical instrument manufacturer Ernie Ball approximately 50 years ago and placed into his collection. Following his death in 2004, it was donated to the Casey Lee Ball Foundation, a charity established for Ball’s grandson, and has remained in their possession since. The car is finished in black over tan cloth upholstery, and power comes from a 385ci L-head V8 with fork-and-blade connecting rods and a single updraft carburetor. Additional features include a three-speed manual transmission, mechanically actuated four-wheel drum brakes, 20” wire wheels, dual side-mount spares, a greyhound radiator mascot, cowl lamps, glass wind wings, rear-hinged rear doors, and a fold-down luggage rack. Inside, the rear cabin is outfitted with footrests, tan carpets, window shades, a robe cord, and a fold-down armrest. This Model L is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean California title. The Model L was introduced in late 1920 as the first automobile built by the Lincoln Motor Company and remained in production throughout the decade after the Ford Motor Company’s 1922 acquisition of Lincoln. Riding on a 136” wheelbase, the model range comprised a variety of open and closed body configurations provided by several American coachbuilders. The model was updated over its final three years with the introduction of standard four-wheel brakes and a displacement increase.
