Description
This 1936 Bentley 3½ Litre is said to have been produced in October 1935, and it features sedanca coupe coachwork by J. Gurney Nutting and Company Ltd. of London. Chassis B18FB spent time in the US in the 1960s before it was reimported to England, and from 1992 spent approximately 30 years in a collection. It underwent a refurbishment by Fiennes Restoration of Lechlade-on-Thames, England, that was completed in 2012 and was shown at car shows in the UK into the 2020s. It was later exported to the US and acquired by the selling dealer in 2026. The car is finished in dark blue with a black fabric-covered roof and a roll-back forward panel, and power comes from a 3,669cc inline-six mated to a four-speed manual gearbox that features synchromesh on its top two gears. It rides on 18″ painted wire wheels, and equipment includes twin SU carburetors, servo-assisted, mechanically actuated drum brakes, adjustable hydraulic lever-arm shock absorbers, a Flying B radiator mascot, a Lucas tri-bar driving lamp and headlights, coach doors, trafficators, polished landau bars, and a rear luggage trunk. Inside, the right-hand-drive cockpit is trimmed in light blue pleated leather, and amenities include burl wood trim, front bucket seats, a right-hand shifter, B-pillar-mounted mirrors and cigar lighters, and a rear fold-down armrest. This Bentley is now offered in New York by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner , with literature, superseded UK tax discs, and a Florida title. The 3½ Litre was introduced in September 1933 as Bentley’s first model since the acquisition of the company by Rolls-Royce. Dubbed “The Silent Sports Car,” the 3½ Litre model was built at Rolls-Royce’s factory in Derby, England, and was outfitted by a variety of coachbuilders in both open and closed configurations.
