The year 1937 marked an important milestone for Cadillac, General Motors' crown jewel and the undisputed leader in American luxury automobiles. Cadillac nearly doubled its sales compared to the previous year, a remarkable achievement considering the lingering economic challenges of the Great Depression. At a time when legendary marques such as Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg, Marmon, Peerless, Stutz, and Pierce-Arrow were either gone or on the brink of collapse, Cadillac remained one of the few surviving luxury automakers. Its survival strategy relied on a balanced lineup: more affordable models, aided by the companion brand LaSalle, alongside its exclusive long-wheelbase V-12 and V-16 automobiles that catered to the wealthiest clientele. By 1937, however, the Cadillac V-12 would be discontinued, symbolizing a shift in the brand's focus, though the prestige of Cadillac's design and engineering remained unquestioned. The 1937 Cadillac Series 60 Convertible Coupe exemplified the marque's ability to blend elegance, performance, and forward-looking design. Cadillac bodies retained much of their 1936 styling but were distinguished by refined updates. The most recognizable change was the new die-cast ""egg-crate"" grille, a bold front fascia that has since become one of Cadillac's most iconic design elements. Restyled front fenders featured a subtle central peak, while redesigned chrome bumpers proudly displayed the Cadillac crest at their center. These enhancements gave the 1937 models a fresher, more sophisticated presence on the road. Inside, the Series 60 Convertible Coupe continued Cadillac's tradition of offering some of the most luxurious interiors in the industry.
