1939 Cadillac Series 60

1939 Cadillac V-8 Series 60 Special Sedan Older Restoration New Interior This 1939 Cadillac Series 60 Special Sedan by Fisher represents one of the most significant American luxury automobiles of the prewar era, recognized by the Classic Car Club of America as a Full Classic and celebrated for its groundbreaking Bill Mitchell design. Often credited with redefining Cadillac's future styling direction, the Series 60 Special introduced a lower, wider, more modern look that influenced luxury car design for decades to come, making this model both historically important and endlessly elegant. Power comes from Cadillac's smooth and torque-rich 346 cubic inch L-head V8, factory rated at 135 horsepower, paired with a three-speed manual transmission operated via the column-mounted shifter. This drivetrain delivers a refined, unhurried driving experience that perfectly suits the car's stately presence and luxury mission. The rear-wheel-drive layout, independent front suspension, and rear leaf springs provide a composed ride that was far ahead of its time, especially when compared to many contemporaries of the late 1930s. Finished in Dark Blue Metallic, the exterior presents extremely well, showing the benefits of a quality older restoration. The bodywork appears straight with no obvious blemishes, and the long, graceful lines of the Fisher-bodied sedan are highlighted by chrome trim that remains in very good condition throughout. Riding on 16-inch wheels fitted with wide whitewall tires, the car sits with the proper period-correct stance that instantly conveys prestige and presence. Front and rear drum brakes and a single exhaust system complete the authentic mechanical presentation. Inside, the cabin has been fully refreshed with an all-new interior by Everlast of Linden, New Jersey, executed in tasteful gray cloth upholstery that complements the exterior beautifully. The bench seating offers generous comfort, and the interior environment reflects the quiet luxury and craftsmanship Cadillac was known for during this era. Details throughout the cabin feel correct and refined, preserving the spirit of a late-1930s luxury automobile while presenting in clean, inviting condition. The car retains its original 6-volt electrical system and overall mechanical layout, reinforcing its authenticity and appeal to collectors who value originality and proper presentation. Extra parts are included with the sale, adding additional value and peace of mind for future ownership. As a CCCA Full Classic, this 1939 Cadillac Series 60 Special is eligible for prestigious events, tours, and shows, making it far more than just a beautiful automobile—it is an entry into an exclusive segment of American automotive history. With its iconic design, strong presentation, and documented status as one of Cadillac's most important prewar models, this Series 60 Special stands as a refined, dignified classic that is equally at home on the show field or enjoyed on the open road.
