The exterior showcases the unmistakable styling that made Buick automobiles of this era so distinctive. The sweeping front fenders, dramatic chrome grille, large round headlights, flowing body lines, and substantial proportions give this Special an impressive presence. The dark exterior beautifully complements the bright chrome and classic whitewall-style tires, creating a timeless pre-war appearance. Under the hood sits a 248ci inline 8-cylinder engine, a defining feature of Buick's automobiles during this era. The straight-eight configuration provides smooth and refined power delivery, making it particularly well suited to relaxed cruising. Power is sent through a 3-speed manual transmission with a column-mounted shifter, giving the driver a direct connection to the drivetrain and an authentic vintage driving experience. One of the most interesting features of this Buick is its rear suicide doors, adding both visual character and practicality to the classic four-door body. Opening from the rear, these doors are a distinctive reminder of automotive design from the era and make getting into the rear seating area especially easy. Inside is where this Buick really separates itself. Significant time and money have been invested into redoing the interior, resulting in a beautifully finished and exceptionally comfortable cabin. The beige cloth interior provides a warm, inviting atmosphere while complementing the car's classic exterior. The rear seating area has also been modified to provide additional room, making this Buick considerably more accommodating for passengers than a typical pre-war automobile. The result is a classic that isn't simply attractive to look at-it is genuinely comfortable to spend time in. The combination of the upgraded interior, spacious rear seating area, and smooth inline-eight power makes this Buick an excellent choice for relaxed cruising. It's the kind of car that's meant to be driven slowly, enjoyed with family and friends, and appreciated for the craftsmanship and character that modern automobiles simply can't replicate. The 1940 Buick Special represents an important period in American automotive history, just before the country's automotive industry was dramatically transformed by World War II. Cars from this era featured some of the most distinctive styling ever produced, with extensive chrome, flowing fenders, suicide doors, and large engines designed for effortless road-going performance. Whether you're a collector of pre-war automobiles, a Buick enthusiast, or simply looking for an unusual classic with an exceptionally comfortable interior, this 1940 Buick Special is a wonderful opportunity.
