Description
This MG TC was built in August 1948 and acquired out of Washington State by the seller circa 2011 before being modified over a number of years with the intent of campaigning it in vintage races on the West Coast. Finished in red, the roadster is fitted with various aluminum body panels and powered by a 136ci Ford Flathead V8 paired with a Muncie M21 four-speed gearbox that has split shifters. It rides on 72-spoke wire wheels and is equipped with a dual-circuit brake setup. Brooklands-style windscreens sit ahead of the cockpit, which is outfitted with a Schroeder steering wheel, split shifters, and aluminum bucket seats with tan vinyl–trimmed cushions. The engine is equipped with an Edelbrock intake manifold and cylinder heads as well as Stromberg 81 carburetors and a custom-fabricated exhaust system with equal-length headers. This TC is now offered by the seller on behalf of their father at no reserve with spare parts and a Nevada title listing the car as a 1949 model. Finished in red, the car features an aluminum bonnet secured by a leather strap and is fitted with dual Brooklands-style windscreens. The front apron is constructed of unfinished aluminum sheeting, which is also used for the removable rear tonneau cover. Further details include headlamp guards, running boards, and rear-hinged doors. The owner notes that the car weighs under 1,600 pounds and that a worn folding soft top is included in the sale.
