Description
This 1949 Norton ES2 was purchased in 2010 by the seller, who has ridden it in a number of SoCal AMCA road runs and Hansen Dam Ride and Rally events in the time since. The bike is powered by a 490cc OHV single mated to a four-speed transmission and is finished in chrome and black with silver, red, and black accents over a black “garden gate” frame. Equipment includes a Roadholder fork, plunger shocks, drum brakes, center-striped 19″ wire-spoke wheels, and a friction-plate steering damper as well as an Amal pre-Monobloc carburetor, a mattress-spring solo seat, a pillion seat, and a chrome low-mounted exhaust system with a Brooklands-can-style muffler. This ES2 is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name. Bodywork including a chrome-plated fuel tank with silver-enameled side and top panels, red and black stripes , and black rubber knee grips is joined by a mattress-spring solo seat and a fender-mounted pillion seat over a black-painted “garden gate” frame. Additional equipment includes a pedestrian-slicer number plate, an Altette-style horn, folding passenger foot pegs, a rear grab handle, and both center and side stands. The front fender has been repaired and repainted, and close-up photos that show paint chips on the fuel tank and wheel rims can be viewed in the gallery.
