1954 Chevrolet Advance Design 3100

OVERVIEWThe Advance Design Chevrolet truck, produced from 1947 through 1955, introduced the cab-forward body style that defined the postwar work truck: a wider, more comfortable cab with improved visibility and cleaner body lines than its prewar predecessor. The 3100 was the half-ton base of the Advance Design lineup, built on a 116-inch wheelbase, and is the most common and most recognizable version of the design, the truck most collectors picture when they think of this generation. Complete, unmodified 3100s with original beds and sheet metal have become the less common proposition in the current market, as a large share of surviving examples have been resto-modded, shortened, or built into custom trucks; unmodified driver-quality survivors are in shorter supply than that overall production volume would suggest.
