Description
This 1955 Packard Caribbean convertible is one of 500 built for the model year and is said to have been refurbished by Wright Restorations before the then-owner, firearm designer and Sturm, Ruger & Co. founder William B. Ruger, had the work redone by Fran Roxas. The car was purchased by the seller out of Pennsylvania in 2010 and is finished in white with two-tone green accents over color-coordinated leather upholstery. Power comes from a 352ci V8 paired with an Ultramatic two-speed automatic transmission. Features include dual four-barrel carburetors, Torsion-Level suspension, Easamatic power-assisted drum brakes, power steering, 15″ chrome wire wheels, a power-operated white soft top, Modern-Aire air conditioning, power windows, a power-adjustable front bench, and a push-button AM radio. This Series 5588 Caribbean is now offered with literature and a Texas title in the seller’s name. The 1955 Packard lineup was redesigned by Dick Teague for the 1955 model year, with the range-topping Caribbean convertible carrying a base price of $5,932. This example is finished in white with two-tone green accents and features a power-operated white convertible top, chrome bumpers, an egg-crate grille, dual faux hood scoops, gold badging, a driver-side mirror, fender skirts, dual antennas, “cathedral” taillights, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper corners.
