Description
This 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible is one of 2,150 examples produced for the model year. Early on, it was owned by a couple who ran a restaurant in Portersville, Pennsylvania, and after the husband died in 1962, the wife eventually hid the Cadillac in a storage area at the restaurant with just 21k miles showing on the car’s odometer. The vehicle was extracted from storage in 1988, and the current owner purchased it in 2002. Finished in Alpine White over blue and white leather upholstery, the Cadillac is powered by a 365ci V8 linked with a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated white soft top, a hard top boot, power-assisted drum brakes, chrome-finished 15″ Sabre wheels, power steering, a power-adjustable front seat, power windows, an AM radio, and dual four-barrel carburetors. In 2013, the power top and power windows were repaired, the brakes were overhauled, and the exhaust system was replaced. This Biarritz is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner as part of the John C. Mesloh Collection with a 1990s Washington Times article about the vehicle, recent service records, tire-changing tools, and transferable New York registration. The car was finished from the factory in Alpine White (90); a door panel is said to have been repainted decades ago after it sustained damage from an egg inside the aforementioned restaurant. Exterior details include chrome bumpers, “Dagmar” front-bumper guards, hooded headlights, body-side trim, a driver-side mirror, a power-operated antenna, and rear tail fins.
