Description
Nicknamed "Deja Blue," this custom 1956 Chevrolet 210 is powered by a 480hp 6.2-liter LS3 crate engine with Jim Inglese eight-stack electronic fuel injection, a polished intake manifold and hardware, serpentine front accessory drive, and smoothed and color-matched throttle bodies. Power is transferred through a Tremec TKO-600 five-speed manual transmission with an 11-inch clutch and hydraulic clutch actuator to a 9-inch rear end with 3.70 gears, a Strange center section and axles. The engine and transmission are detailed and color-matched. A custom-made core support houses an aluminum radiator, air conditioning condenser and two 12-inch electric fans. Smoothed, polished and ceramic-coated OEM exhaust manifolds feed a ceramic-coated custom exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers. The black powder-coated Art Morrison GT Sport Tri-Five chassis features chromed and polished components, four-link coilover suspension and power rack-and-pinion steering. Undercarriage body components are finished in gloss paint to match the exterior. Wilwood brakes feature 12-inch rotors with four-piston calipers and an electric parking brake. The California and Nevada rust-free body was professionally prepared and finished in Modern Classikk Veruca Violet paint and features shaved door handles, tinted glass, a one-piece front bumper, a Nomad-style rear bumper and a fuel filler concealed behind the left taillight. The stainless steel was repaired where necessary and polished to a mirror finish. It rides on Budnik 18x7 and 18x8 wheels mounted with Nitto tires. The leather interior was designed and installed by Schober's Custom Hot Rod Interiors of Newark, Illinois, and features 2015 Camaro eight-way power seats, a Vintage Air system, power windows, push-button start and Dakota Digital gauges with a clock. An Alpine 9-inch touchscreen audio/video head unit is mounted in a custom center console. The steering wheel matches the wheels and is mounted on a color-matched tilt column. The trunk is finished to match the interior. The professional no-expense-spared custom was completed in 2022 by Dave Carnock of Carnock Creations in Des Moines, Iowa, with more than two years and 1,500 hours of labor invested. Awards include the 2022 Goodguys Top 10 Builders Choice, First Place in Class and Best Custom at the 2022 Chicago World of Wheels, First Place Best Tri-Five at the 22nd Annual International Route 66 Mother Road Festival in Springfield, Illinois, and ISCA Pick of the Show, 1949 and Newer, at the 2024 Quad Cities Street Rod Nationals. It has been driven 1,142 miles since completion of the build.
