Description
This 1956 Ford Thunderbird convertible is powered by a 292ci Y-block V-8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor, mated to a three-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The replacement engine has been refurbished with new belts and hoses, and additional new components include horns and neutral safety switch. Stopping is handled by manual brakes. Restored in factory-correct Colonial White, it is fitted with a body-color removable hardtop with portholes and a glass rear window. Exterior equipment includes a Continental kit, removable rear fender skirts, brightwork and wheels with Ford-branded chrome hubcaps and thick whitewall tires. The interior features a reupholstered four-way power bench seat, replacement headliner, metallic trim, power windows, power steering and a floor-mounted automatic shifter. Instrumentation includes a 5,000-rpm tachometer, 150-mph speedometer, analog clock, fuel and coolant temperature gauges, and auxiliary Stewart-Warner water-temperature and oil-pressure gauges. The seller states the clock, coolant temperature gauge, Town & Country AM radio and windshield wipers are inoperative, and the heater/defroster controls operate, but the defroster ducting is missing.
