This stunning concept car features the groundbreaking 283 cubic-inch V8 engine with a Rochester Ramjet fuel injection system, delivering an impressive 283 horsepower and setting the standard for performance vehicles.Developed in response to the overwhelming excitement surrounding Harley Earls SR-2 race car, the Corvette Super Sport was designed to offer a competitive version of the Corvette. Built under shop order SO-90181, this unique model began life as a 1956 Corvette (VIN E56S001589) and was transformed at a cost exceeding $18,000 (around $169,900 today). To enhance its race-ready appearance, the original windshield was replaced with rounded windscreens, and custom tail-lamp assemblies were integrated into the rear fenders.Inside, the Corvette Super Sport boasts luxurious blue-dyed leather upholstery, a first for Corvette, with matching accents on the dash, shifter boot, center console, door panels, and even the trunk carpeting. This remarkable piece of automotive history has survived where many concept cars did not, and it is now available for the first time in decades.
