1958 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight

Description1958 OLDSMOBILE EIGHTY-EIGHT SEDAN -- This 1958 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 four-door sedan is a true survivor, retaining its original Tropical Mist Metallic and Victorian White paint and a remarkably original interior. The odometer shows 69,603 miles, believed to be original. Powered by its numbers-matching 371-cubic-inch Rocket V8 paired with an automatic transmission, this Oldsmobile runs and drives well and delivers the relaxed cruising character of a full-size American sedan of its era. Inside, blue patterned cloth upholstery is complemented by ivory-white vinyl and light-blue accents. The coordinated door panels and deluxe AM radio add to the cabin’s period appearance, preserving much of the character that makes an original car special. Outside, the two-tone finish highlights the sweeping body lines and extensive chrome and stainless trim that define the 1958 Oldsmobile. Coker Classic whitewall tires complete the period look. This car’s two-owner history tells a distinctly Chicago story. Its second owner purchased it in the late 1970s from a used car dealership on Cicero Avenue and kept it until our recent acquisition. Chicago city stickers from 1981–82, 1982–83, and 1984–85 remain on the car, offering tangible reminders of its local past. Now offered by Windy City Motors Classic, also on Cicero Avenue, this Oldsmobile has come full circle. Its known history strongly suggests it has remained in Chicago throughout its life. With its original paint, largely original interior, and matching Rocket V8, this Dynamic 88 offers an appealing opportunity for someone who values preservation and the character of an unrestored automobile.
