Description
This 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor is a three-way landau hearse that was reportedly sold new to a funeral home on the East Coast. It was purchased by the seller in 2014 and underwent a refurbishment that reportedly included an overhaul of the 390ci V8, a repaint of the bodywork in black, and retrimming the rear cabin in red mohair upholstery. It was subsequently used as a rental vehicle for use in film, television, and music video productions. Equipment includes an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, a four-speed automatic transmission, 15″ wheels with chrome hubcaps, power steering, power-assisted drum brakes, left and right pillarless rear coach doors, chrome landau bars, a swing-away rear door, and tail fins with integrated quad taillights. Inside, additional appointments include a bench seat and door panels trimmed in red upholstery with gray accents as well as a backup camera, a remote-controlled Pioneer stereo with quadraphonic speakers, indirect rear cabin lighting, rear and side-window curtains, and storage compartments beneath the casket table. This Fleetwood-based hearse is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name. Miller-Meteor began building hearses in 1957 exclusively on a Cadillac commercial chassis. Its three-way landau model featured left and right pillarless rear coach doors, a swing-away rear door, and chrome landau bars on the C-pillar. This example was delivered from the factory with a black crinkle finish on the roof, and it was repainted in its current black under the seller’s ownership. Details include quad headlights, aftermarket horns, dual side-view mirrors, and tail fins with integrated quad taillights. An enamel funeral badge is mounted on the rear bodywork.
