Description
This custom 1959 Cadillac Sedan De Ville, known as "The Grand Illusion," is powered by a forged 6.0-liter L96 V-8 engine equipped with a BTR Stage 3 Torquer blower camshaft and an LSA supercharger with a 2.55-inch Griptec pulley producing 12 pounds of boost. Power is transferred through a Level 4 Monster 4L80E automatic transmission with a 3,600-rpm Circle D converter to a Fab 9 rear end with 3.73 limited-slip differential and 35-spline axles. Additional mechanical components include a custom Ron Davis radiator, Rick's stainless-steel fuel tank, VaporWorx fuel controller, ZL1 fuel pump and PSI Conversions wiring harness. The engine compartment features custom-fabricated steel panels with painted surfaces beneath. The exhaust system consists of custom 2-inch headers, 3-inch mandrel-bent stainless-steel tubing, QTP electric cutouts, Spectre mufflers, side exits and handmade trim rings. The suspension features an Air Lift 3P air management system with automatic self-leveling. Braking is handled by four-piston Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners, stainless-steel brake lines, a Wilwood electric parking brake and an ABS Power Brakes electric booster. Originally a four-door Sedan De Ville, the body was converted into a two-door configuration by The Metal Factory in Holland. The conversion included welding the rear doors shut, relocating the doorjambs forward to accommodate coupe doors and chopping the roof 3 inches in front and 5 inches in the rear. The modified body incorporates coupe front door glass, a coupe windshield, removable rear quarter glass and a custom rear window. Exterior modifications include shaved door handles with remote-operated and rocker-mounted door releases, deleted emblems and trim, smoothed side skirts and custom-built beltline moldings. The body is finished in House of Kolor Tangelo Pearl with matte clearcoat, while the roof features a west-coast styled custom airbrush job incorporating nearly a dozen candy colors. The exterior also features new chrome, restored stainless-steel trim, all LED lighting and 20x9-inch chrome Isotope Kendall wheels with Vogue tires. The interior features a 1959 Chevrolet Impala dashboard with Dakota Digital RTX gauges, Hydes leather and Alcantara upholstery, power-adjustable sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro front seats and a Snowden C10 rear bench seat. Additional appointments include a full-length center console, Flaming River tilt steering column, power-operated front windows and vent windows, LED lighting and HushMat sound insulation. A Restomod Air Haymaker climate-control system provides air conditioning with Bluetooth-enabled smartphone operation, billet vents and a custom controller. The audio system features a Kenwood head unit, AudioControl components, five-channel and two-channel amplifiers, front component speakers, rear 6x9-inch speakers and a custom subwoofer enclosure molded into the rear quarter area. Additional equipment includes a custom-finished trunk housing the concealed audio and air suspension components, Rebel 9+3 wiring harness and a hidden kill switch. The body conversion was completed around 2012, and the vehicle was subsequently imported from Europe in early 2022. It was finished in September of 2026, and approximately 2,000 miles have been driven since completion.
