1959 Ford Country

DescriptionPresenting a beautifully VERY RARE 1959 Ford Country Sedan station wagon, with only 8,662 two-door wagons produced in 1959 for all of Ford's station wagon models. Less than 5% of 1959 Country Sedan Wagons were produced in 2-door while the rest of the wagons were built in 4-door form. This wagon is finished in classic black and white exterior with a matching black vinyl interior. This example is in excellent overall condition and combines period-correct style with contemporary drivability thanks to a 4.6L V8 powerplant installed to provide reliable, modern performance while maintaining the vehicle’s original character. Factory-delivered features (typical for a 1959 Country Sedan) - All-steel station wagon body: Durable full-width steel construction with generous cargo volume and practical, family-oriented dimensions. The Country Sedan was Ford’s utilitarian wagon offering—simple, durable sheetmetal and trim focused on function and clean styling. - Exterior brightwork: Chrome bumpers, grille trim, and polished stainless or chrome accents around the windows and bodylines, reflecting the era’s emphasis on visible brightwork for a tasteful, upscale appearance. - Two-row seating configuration: Bench seating upholstered in vinyl was the standard material for durability and easy maintenance. The rear seating laid out to maximize passenger capacity and cargo versatility. - Tailgate and rear window arrangement: Practical tailgate design with a fold-down lower gate and a lift-up rear window—providing secure cargo access and a flexible loading surface for long items. - Instrumentation and controls: Simple, straightforward instrument cluster with large speedometer and essential gauges (fuel and temperature), together with dashboard-mounted controls for lights, wipers and now upgraded A/C and heater from Vintage Air. The layout emphasized legibility and ease of use. - Transmission and driveline: The Country Sedan was built with a robust chassis intended for utility: with a 5-speed manual transmission with front and rear coilover suspension - Brakes and steering: disc brakes all around and a power steering system. - Practical interior trim and fittings: Vinyl surfaces and carpet flooring front to rear make this wagon more comfortable. This particular Country Sedan preserves the visual integrity of the original/ custom interior and exterior while offering increased drivability thanks to the 4.6L V8 conversion. The black and white exterior shines with well-kept paint and chrome, and the black vinyl interior is in excellent condition—comfortable, neat, and true to the wagon’s practical origins. Overall, this 1959 Country Sedan is an attractive example for collectors who appreciate classic Ford styling with upgraded, dependable performance for modern driving.
