West Coast Classics are proud to present this 1960 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Roadster which decodes as a very early production car built at the St. Louis factory. Here is the precise breakdown of what each character represents:0 (1st Digit): Represents the last digit of the model year (1960).08 (2nd & 3rd Digits): The General Motors series identification code for the Chevrolet Corvette.67 (4th & 5th Digits): The GM body style designation for a Convertible (all 1960 Corvettes were convertibles from the factory).S (6th Digit): Identifies the assembly plant as St. Louis, Missouri.101215 (7th–12th Digits): The sequential production number. Since production sequence numbers for 1960 started at 100001, this specific vehicle was the 1,215th Corvette built out of a total 10,261 produced for the 1960 model year. Given the low sequence number, it likely rolled off the line in late October or early November of 1959.Authentic Physical Visual Clues for a 1960 VIN:Because this car is an early-production model (sequence #1215), the physical location and material of the VIN tag are critical for verification. The engine stamp V0716TJU decodes directly to a Chevrolet small-block V8 engine assembled at the Flint, Michigan plant on July 16th.The transmission casting # 3742350  is the correct for a Powerglide transmission (1958-61) with the correct J79 date code (10/7/1959) for a 1960 transmission. The rear end casting # 3725899 is date correct also (1957-62).Here is the exact character-by-character breakdown:V: The assembly plant code for Flint Engine Tasks in Flint, Michigan.0716: The month and day of assembly (July 16th). It was originally factory-installed in one of the following heavy-duty light truck/commercial applications:1973 Chevrolet/GMC G-Series Van (G30 1-ton)1973 Chevrolet/GMC P-Series Commercial Chassis (Step-vans, motorhomes, or buses)Because it is a commercial-grade 350 V8, it likely features a heavy-duty 4-bolt main block, making it a highly desirable, strong base for hot rods or classic car engine swaps. However, it is definitively not a factory Corvette motor.1 of 1,641 with an Auxiliary Hardtop in lieu of a soft top.Powerglide Automatic TransmissionAM Signal seeking radioThe car will be sold with its original factory hardtop and AM Wonderbar radio and is an original California car recently acquired from long term southern California ownership and which still boasts its original California 'Black License' plates. Finished in 'Sateen Silver' with a White interior. No signs of any accidents. A very honest but unrestored example. As stated the car was recently acquired from long term storage and we have the car up and running and the car runs and drives well. The paint although presentable for a daily driver should be considered old and faded. The interior is in similar condition, presentable with good seats and carpets and functional but unrestored.
