1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Cabriolet

This 1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE is one of 1,112 cabriolets produced with Bosch mechanical fuel injection between 1958 and 1960. It underwent a refurbishment under previous ownership in the mid-1990s and was refinished in light blue with a dark blue soft top over blue MB-Tex upholstery. Power is provided by a 2.2-liter M127 inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car is further equipped with a top boot, 13″ steel wheels, fog lights, a wood dashboard and interior trim, VDO instruments, and a heater. Purchased by the current owner following a May 2025 BaT auction , this Ponton is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in California with the owner’s manual and a clean Montana title in the name of the owner’s LLC. The 220SE model was introduced in late 1958 as the final evolution of the Ponton platform’s six-cylinder variants. This final-year cabriolet is finished in light blue and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. A replacement dark blue convertible top was fitted at that time, and the chrome trim and wrap-around bumpers with overriders are also noted to have been re-plated under current ownership.
