Vehicle Description 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS ***Vehicle Located in NH*** Zoom Classic Cars presents this 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 Dual Quad Coupe. Professionally restored and stunning example of the Iconic 409 Dual Quad 4 Speed SS Impala. Perfect in every way, this SS was owned by a prominent dealer as part of his personal collection and purchased by the current owner in 2019. Few American performance cars have achieved the legendary status of the Chevrolet Impala SS 409. Immortalized by The Beach Boys in their iconic 1962 hit song “409,” Chevrolet’s fire-breathing full-size Super Sport became an instant symbol of early muscle car performance and youthful American car culture. Long before the muscle car wars reached full stride, the 409-powered Impala established itself as one of the fastest and most respected street machines of its era — a car capable of embarrassing far smaller competitors while offering full-size comfort and unmistakable style.Offered here is an outstanding example of that legend — a beautifully restored 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 Dual Quad 4-Speed presented in stunning Roman Red with matching red interior. Showing approximately 1,700 miles since restoration, this car remains in immaculate condition throughout and captures the exact look, sound, and feel that made the “409” one of Chevrolet’s most celebrated performance icons. At the heart of this Impala is a non-numbers matching 409 cubic-inch V-8 rated at 409 horsepower, equipped with highly desirable dual 4-barrel carburetors and topped with the correct dual-snorkel air cleaner assembly. Backed by a 4-speed manual transmission with positraction and breathing through a throaty dual exhaust system, this Super Sport delivers the kind of raw torque and unmistakable exhaust note that defined Chevrolet performance in the early 1960s. With power steering and power brakes, the car combines serious muscle with confident road manners and comfortable drivability. The 1962 model year is widely considered one of the cleanest and most attractive Impala body designs ever produced, featuring crisp body lines, restrained chrome trim, and the signature “bubble top” roofline styling that has made these cars enduring favorites among collectors. This example is exceptionally well detailed throughout. The Roman Red finish presents beautifully and pairs perfectly with the matching red Super Sport interior. Interior appointments include a column-mounted tachometer, factory AM radio, clock, recently installed Vintage AC and heat, defrost system, rear seat speaker, and dual rear antennas, Soft Ray tinted glass, logo floor mats and 2 outside mirrors. The car rides on correct color-matched steel wheels fitted with classic dog dish hubcaps and new tires, giving it the purposeful, factory performance appearance enthusiasts love. A tinted windshield further complements the period-correct presentation. Everything works on the vehicle as it should and current owner has retained the original AC parts and original radio that will go along with the car. From its dual-quad induction setup to its close-ratio 4-speed and iconic styling, this 1962 Impala SS represents the golden age of Chevrolet performance. Whether admired for its connection to American pop culture, its historical importance in the development of the muscle car, or simply the unforgettable sound of a solid-lifter 409 at full throttle, this beautifully restored example stands as one of the most desirable full-size performance Chevrolets ever built. “She\'s real fine, my 409…” — more than sixty years later, those words still perfectly capture the spirit of this legendary American Super Sport.
