Description
KEY FACTS This Chevrolet Corvette C2 is a striking restomod interpretation of the iconic 1963 split-window coupe, combining its distinctive Sting Ray styling with the powertrain, chassis technology, braking, and comfort features of a more modern performance car. Now powered by a formidable 7.0-litre (427ci) LS7 V8 engine producing 500hp, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. First registered in 1963, it was supplied new within the US, and is now located in Kuwait. A previous feature article on this car states that it was acquired by a Kuwaiti businessman and entrusted to Long Island Collector Car Garage (LICCG) in New York, US, to undertake its transformation into a custom Corvette with modern mechanicals. The project reportedly took over four months with more than 2,000 hours of labour invested, and was completed in September 2008. The odometer shows 1,200 miles, which is understood to be the distance covered since the restoration and custom build. EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES This example is a sought-after Split-Window model, extensively transformed into a high-performance Restomod, combining classic aesthetics with modern power and handling. Finished in a striking Diamond Platinum Ice metallic, over a contrasting Red interior. It rides on polished 18x8-inch American Racing Torq-Thrust II wheels, wrapped in 245/40ZR18 high-performance tyres at both the front and rear. Key features of this restomod include: a Chevrolet Corvette LS7 427ci small block engine producing 500hp, a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed transmission, custom ceramic-coated headers and stainless steel sidepipes, Wilwood six-piston front calipers with 13-inch drilled-and-slotted rotors, Wilwood single-piston rear calipers with 12-inch rotors, C4 Corvette front and rear suspension systems, and a custom Dana 44 rear end with 3.45 gearing.
