This is a real K-code Comet Caliente, making it an especially interesting example for collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate the performance-oriented versions of Mercury’s compact lineup. Power comes from a 289 cubic inch V8 engine paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. The combination gives this Comet the easy drivability and classic V8 character that make these cars so enjoyable on the road. The car received an older frame-off restoration and still presents very well today. Finished in a striking Turquoise exterior, the paint remains in great overall condition with only minor blemishes consistent with age and use. The color suits the body lines perfectly and gives the car a strong period-correct appearance. Inside is a clean black bench seat interior that keeps the cabin simple, tasteful, and classic. The interior complements the Turquoise exterior nicely and gives the car a very clean overall look. An aluminum radiator has also been installed, helping improve cooling and making the car better suited for regular driving and warm-weather use. This Comet has won multiple awards at car shows, which speaks to the quality of its restoration and overall presentation. It is the kind of car that can still be enjoyed at local shows, cruise-ins, or weekend drives without feeling too precious to use.
