1964 Mercury Monterey

Vehicle Description 1964 Mercury Monterey $22,500 Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this 1964 Mercury Monterey, finished in a Turquoise and White two-tone exterior over a Turquoise leather interior. As part of Mercury's full-size lineup, the Monterey combined substantial proportions, bright exterior trim, and distinctive early-1960s styling. Under the hood is a 390 CID FE-series V8 paired with an automatic transmission. The 390 was a factory engine offering for the 1964 Monterey, and Mercury offered several versions of the engine that year. The 390 could also be paired with Mercury's Multi-Drive Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission, making V8 power and automatic operation an important part of the Monterey lineup. Dezo's Garage Power steering and power brakes add convenience to this full-size cruiser. The Monterey rode on a 120-inch wheelbase for 1964, contributing to the substantial proportions associated with Mercury's full-size cars of the period. Dezo's Garage Inside, the Turquoise leather interior continues the exterior color theme and provides a spacious cabin. Air conditioning adds to cabin comfort, while an AM/FM radio provides entertainment. The large cabin, broad seating areas, and traditional dashboard layout reflect Mercury's emphasis on comfort and passenger space. The Turquoise and White exterior is complemented by chrome bumpers and extensive brightwork, details characteristic of American full-size cars of the era. Its long body and wide stance further emphasize the Monterey's traditional cruiser appearance. An interesting piece of 1964 Mercury history is just how much performance was available in the full-size lineup. In addition to the 390 found here, Mercury offered multiple 390 configurations and even optional 427 CID V8s, with advertised output reaching as high as 425 horsepower in certain applications.
