Description
KEY FACTS This Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Type 34 is a distinctively styled classic German coupe, which has been enhanced with a Porsche 2.7-litre flat-six engine. Under the rear engine lid now sits a Porsche 911-sourced 2.7-litre naturally aspirated air-cooled flat-six, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. This original Australian-market example was first registered in 1965. This Karmann Ghia Type 34 is understood to be one of just 253 right-hand drive examples left worldwide, of which only 48 are believed to be 1964 model-year examples. The odometer indicates 12,417 miles, though this is not warranted. Build year: 1964 EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES This Karmann Ghia Type 34 is finished in the stylish hue of Anthracite, over a black leatherette-trimmed interior, featuring contrasting white door card sections, a wood veneer dashboard inlay, and chrome trim highlights. It rides on an aftermarket set of 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels finished in satin-black with anodised ‘petal’ spokes and lips, fitted with Supercat tyres. Equipment includes push-out front and quarter light windows, elasticated door card storage pockets, a locking glove compartment, and heater and ventilation controls. This example has been enhanced with a Porsche 911-sourced 2.7-litre flat-six engine, a wood-rimmed Moto Lita steering wheel, a carbon-fibre gear knob, a JVC CD stereo with Bluetooth connectivity, glow-in-the-dark VDO gauges, aftermarket Procar front seats, aftermarket rear cabin speakers, a Fireball Performance ignition system, Weber downdraft carburettors, custom air filter housings with ‘Maleficent’ artwork, and a Proflow oil breather tank. The car comes with two keys, a history of the engine conversion completed in the 1980s, and a copy of Flat 4 magazine featuring the car in the 1990s. The seller also notes that the car has full engineering documentation and has been fully registered in Tasmania, Victoria, WA and NSW. CONDITION Please refer to the photo g
