Description
KEY FACTS This Mk1-era Ford Cortina GT is an exciting and extensively restored classic sports sedan, boasting a significantly upgraded engine and a custom build, offered from the seller’s private collection It is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-cam (DOHC) inline-four with individual throttle bodies (ITB) and coil-on-plug (COP) ignition, driving the rear wheels via a retrofitted five-speed manual transmission. First registered in 1965, this example was previously registered in South Africa and is now located in Australia since 2022. The odometer indicates 279 km, though this is not warranted, and the seller states that this is the mileage covered since the completion of the restoration. Build year: 1965 EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES It is finished in Caribbean Turquoise over a black leatherette-trimmed interior. It rides on a set of 13-inch x 6 1/4-inch widened steel wheels, fitted with period-correct Dunlop SP Sports tyres. Equipment now includes a 2.0-litre 16-valve twin-cam (DOHC) engine with individual throttle bodies (ITB) and coil-on-plug (COP) ignition, developing around 125hp, front coilover suspension with camber adjustment, rear GT leaf springs with new eye bushes and 75mm lowering blocks, a stainless steel exhaust system with powder-coated SS branches/headers, an aluminium custom-fabricated radiator, a drop-style aluminium fuel cell, a 3.9:1 GT differential, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and new Smith gauges. Accompanying the sale is the owner's manual, owner's repair book, a Lotus Cortina Hot Wheels model, a folder with complete photo documentation of the restoration, full import papers, and the original title of the car. One ignition key is included. CONDITION Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: the car underwent a full custom restoration in 2019, with all new rubbers and refinishing of the majority of the chrome work, although some parts like the glass have some light scratching.
